Our personalized approach to skincare

Everyone’s skin is different. We all have unique features to our skin depending on age, heredity, ethnicity and exposure to sun and stress, we all have unique features to our skin. At Skin Technology we have seen superb results with a medically guided skincare approach. Sherry Smith has been consulting clients for over twenty years with personalized treatments designed to meet the needs of each skin type. Preventative care using the right measure of treatment combined with the correct product – before problems occur – is the best way to ensure healthy, firm, smooth skin.

The sun is a major cause of premature skin aging such as wrinkles, dry skin and age spots. No matter what your age, it’s important to protect yourself against the sun. Avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, if possible. The sun’s damaging rays (called ultraviolet or “UV” rays) are the strongest between 10 AM and 3 PM. Stay inside, or at least in the shade. Apply sunscreen, being careful to choose one with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15, and follow directions carefully. UV rays can pass through clouds and reflect off of concrete and even snow, so be sure to wear sunscreen every day. Remember to apply to the areas that you tend to miss such as your ears, hands and feet. Wear protective clothing. Wear wide-brimmed hats, UV-blocking sunglasses and dark, tightly-woven fabric to reduce exposure to the sun’s harmful rays.

Even with preventative care and avoidance of the sun, many of us experience sagging, loose skin and that “tired” look when we hit our late 30’s and 40’s. This is the result of gravity and the effects of the environment. Genetics is also a contriubuting factor. When so many of us are in careers where vibrancy counts, it is important to maintain a youthful appearance. Today, many men and women in their 40’s and 50’s are in the job market, interviewing against younger candidates. Looking youthful is not only important in how we are viewed by others, but how we view ourselves. It is a well-known fact that how we look has an impact on our self-esteem and confidence. A few minor procedures can take ten or more years off our faces, giving us a competitive edge in today’s job market.

Keep your skin looking young!

Through the use of light to medium skin peels, microdermabrasion and laser treatments can keep your skin youthful and even undo some sun damage and prevent the need for more invasive treatments, including facial cosmetic surgery.
